Coffee Machine Won't Turn On


If your coffee machine won't power on, try these troubleshooting steps.


Quick Checks


Check Power Supply

  1. ✅ Is the machine plugged in securely?
  2. ✅ Is the power outlet working? (test with another device)
  3. ✅ Is the power switch turned on?
  4. ✅ Is the power cord damaged?


Check Machine Position

  1. ✅ Is the water tank properly seated?
  2. ✅ Is the drip tray in place?
  3. ✅ Are all removable parts correctly installed?
  4. ✅ Is the bean hopper lid closed? (some machines have safety switches)


Troubleshooting Steps


Step 1: Power Cycle

  1. Turn off the machine
  2. Unplug from the wall
  3. Wait 60 seconds
  4. Plug back in
  5. Turn on the machine


Step 2: Check Safety Interlocks

Many machines won't turn on if components aren't properly installed:

  • Remove and reseat the water tank
  • Remove and reseat the drip tray
  • Ensure the brew group is locked in place
  • Close the bean hopper lid firmly
  • Check the service door is closed


Step 3: Check for Error Indicators

  • Look for flashing lights
  • Check the display for error codes
  • Refer to your manual for error code meanings


Step 4: Test the Power Outlet

  1. Unplug the coffee machine
  2. Plug in a different device (lamp, phone charger)
  3. If the other device works, the outlet is fine
  4. If the other device doesn't work, try a different outlet


Step 5: Check the Power Cord

  1. Inspect the cord for damage
  2. Check for fraying or exposed wires
  3. Ensure the cord is firmly connected to the machine
