WATER FILTRATION

Appropriate water filtration is required to ensure the correct operation and longevity of your coffee machine. There are many filtration options on the market, but they are not created equal nor do what is needed.

Common water filters use a combination of pre-filters (removes sediment) and carbon cartridges (removes further sediment, flavours and odours). These are commonly found on fridge filters and multi-stage water filtration systems. Specialised water filtration systems like Reverse Osmosis (RO) removes all minerals from water. The aroma and flavour of coffee is enhanced by minerals in the water, which is why it is important to remineralise your water after RO treatment.

Your coffee machine relies on detecting conductivity to ensure it is measuring your water levels correctly in the water tank (depending on model) and boiler. To ensure correct operation of your machine, you must ensure there are some minerals in the water you are using.

The correct water filtration system for your coffee machine MUST mention the removal of calcium/limescale from the water. This will leave all other minerals in the water which do not harm your coffee machine. These remaining minerals in the water like magnesium actually help enhance the aroma and flavour of your coffee!

Please ensure you know the suitability of your water filtration system for your intended purpose, as not all filters are fit for purpose. The replacement frequency is determined by the filtration option you have chosen and the overall hardness (includes Calcium molecules) of the water in your local area.

WARRANTY RELATED to LIMESCALE

PLEASE NOTE - Coffee Machine Specialist will not Warranty faults related to limescale UNLESS a full descale is performed. We will then warranty any labour related to limescale issues for 3 months.

Please note this warranty does not cover failure of components even if limescale is a contributing factor eg. anti-vacuum valve.
